UNIT 1: Exploratory Data Analysis Basics

Learn to use and apply the core concepts of EDA by creating simple classes and exploring, manipulating, and describing tabular datasets with Python.

UNIT 2: Exploratory Data Analysis Advanced

We’ll expand on unit one, diving deeper into Python and SQL methods used for Exploratory Data Analysis.

Project Due:

Show that you can extract insights from a messy dataset and work with an SQL-based relational database to obtain and maintain data. Plus, write code using Jupyter notebooks, perform EDA using Python packages, and visualize your results using packages like Matplotlib.

UNIT 1: Linear Regression Basics and Web Scraping

This week is all about web scraping, cross validation, feature engineering, and linear regression basics.

UNIT 2: Linear Regression Advanced

Learn the advanced linear regression methods which span topics from stochastic gradient descent to regularization. We’ll also teach you fundamental time series regression methods.

Project Due:

Your project for module two will cover two areas: solving a linear regression problem and applying foundational techniques for machine learning. You’ll go in-depth into regression theory, use python modules such as scikit-learn, and web scrape to gather data.

UNIT 1: Business Analysis

We’ll use spreadsheet tools to analyze data and leverage data visualization best practices.

UNIT 2: Presentations, Project Management and Ethics

This unit is about acquiring project management techniques, learning presentation skills, and exploring the ethical challenges of working with data.

Project Due:

This is your chance to apply your project management and iterative design knowledge to solve a business problem, using data. You’ll take your findings and use them to build an interactive dashboard.

UNIT 1: Classification Basics

In this unit, we’ll cover topics like: featuring engineering for classification problems, basic classification models, and the fundamentals of classification metrics.

UNIT 2: Classification Advanced

Here, we’ll build on our foundational understanding of classification models by working with imbalanced datasets.

Project Due:

This is your time to show that you can solve a classification problem. How will you do that? By using algorithms such as decision trees, logistic regression, random forests, and Naive Bayes. Then, you’ll further explore techniques in supervised machine learning to determine the proper metrics for your modeling problem and address challenges with class imbalance.

UNIT 1: Natural Language Processing and Unsupervised Learning Basics

Learn the natural language processing basics, dimensionality reduction, and recommendation systems. Plus, you’ll be introduced to basic clustering techniques.

UNIT 2: Natural Language Processing and Unsupervised Learning Advanced

For your final unit, you’ll learn advanced techniques in NLP and clustering algorithms.

Project Due:

This last project is an opportunity to analyze text data using natural language processing algorithms. In addition, you’ll utilize techniques for dimensionality reduction like Principal Component Analysis, apply topic models like Latent Dirichlet Allocation, and implement clustering algorithms such as K-means.

  • Who can apply to the Data Science Bootcamp and what is the admissions process?

    We are currently able to accept applicants for the Data Science Bootcamp from the following U.S. states. If you are currently from a state we are not yet approved in, please proceed to submit your application and our Admissions team will follow up with you once we have updates on your eligibility. 

    The application process includes three simple steps: 1) submit an online application, 2) complete a non-technical interview with the Admissions team, and 3) complete the technical assessment.

    At each of the 3 stages, the admissions committee will review your application and determine your preparedness to succeed in our bootcamp. We assess applicants on (1) programming experience, (2) math experience, (3) communication skills, (4) personality traits of curiosity, grit, and passion, (5) motivation to join the bootcamp and (6) their potential overall fit within Metis. If the admissions committee agrees that the applicant has the potential to succeed in the program, the applicant is informed in writing of their acceptance within 2 day business days of completing the technical assessment.

  • What if I don’t feel prepared to apply for the bootcamp right now?

    If you’d like to enhance your math, python, and overall data science skills prior to applying, we’d recommend considering one of our part-time bootcamp prep courses. Gain the skills you need, and apply your tuition paid from one course towards the bootcamp.


    Additionally, we highly recommend that you register for our free Metis Admissions Prep to develop your data science and analytics fundamentals!

  • Is this a full-time commitment?

    Our Live Online Data Science Bootcamp format is 10 weeks long and requires a full-time commitment Monday through Friday. The bootcamps run from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm ET / 10:00 am - 5:00 pm CT / 8:00 am - 3:00 pm PT.   The daily schedule includes pair programming, lectures, one hour lunch, and independent project work.

    Need a more flexible option? Consider our Online Flex format. The weekly time commitment is 15-20 hours and clear deadlines for assignments and projects help students stay on track.

  • What are the payment options for the bootcamp?

    Tuition for the Data Science Bootcamp is $14,500 for the Live Online format and $11,000 for the Online Flex format. If accepted into one of Metis’ bootcamps, a deposit of $1,500 is required within 7 days of signing the enrollment agreement to secure a spot. After making the deposit, students have the option of paying in installments. We also partner with Skills Fund and Climb for affordable financing options. As our third party financing partners, they both offer several monthly repayment options for our students accepted to the bootcamp. Learn more by visiting Ascent or Climb Credit

    Women, members of underrepresented demographic groups*, members of the LGBTQ community, and/or veterans or members of the U.S. military are eligible to receive a $3,000 scholarship toward their Metis Data Science Bootcamp tuition.
