Winter bootcamp (dates to be announced)
Laura, a developer bootcamp graduate, is passionate about bringing people into technology and making things happen.
Before joining Metis, she worked in Operations, Project Management, International Relations, and had a brief stint as a magazine editor. She was also freelancing as a Rails developer after completing a programming bootcamp. She is a member of Women Who Code and is very committed to the cause. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, reading, robots, and wondering about the universe. Laura graduated from ITESM as an Engineer in Information Systems.
Megan, a veteran technology recruiter, loves guiding people on their career paths and helping them find their next great jobs.
Before joining Metis, Megan spent five years building a vast network of software engineers and technology companies in Boston. She has built countless successful company and candidate relationships through her ability to truly understand a company’s hiring needs as well as the candidate’s motivations and aspirations. In her spare time, she teaches Zumba, so feel free to chat with her about Salsa or Merengue any time! Megan graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Chris, a developer at thoughtbot, loves coding for the web and building the right product.
He is a big fan of Vim and the general Unix philosophy of sharp, focused tools. He started his career as a mechanical engineer but has always had a passion for programming, specifically web development. He has worked in Visual Basic and Python, but since finding Ruby and Rails, there’s been no looking back. Outside of coding, Chris is a fan of dinner with friends, skiing, and an embarrassingly eclectic cross section of music.
Gabe, a developer at thoughtbot, enjoys making well-factored, easy-to-use applications.
He has been coding in one language or another for half his life. At thoughtbot, he has built small and large Rails applications, and ran the apprentice.io program. He found Ruby in 2005 and hasn’t looked back since. In his free time, he likes to lift heavy things and watch Joss Whedon shows.
We are committed to helping you find a job after graduation. That process begins with our Career Day.
Hiring Partners will vary by bootcamp. Here are some of the companies you might meet:
Boston has a flourishing Ruby community with two events recurring monthly. The first event is at the thoughtbot office, so you won't even have to leave! This is a great time to pair with fellow programmers in Boston and usually has presentations aimed at beginners. The second event is at Brightcove, a nearby office, which typically has two intermediate talks followed by drinks at a nearby bar. Both events will allow you to network with everyone in the community including members of the thoughtbot office.
Join us for a hack night with our alumni and students - August 14
Fireside Chat Tuesdays allow our students to engage with leaders from technology companies in a casual, informal setting. These Q&A chats give our students an employer’s perspective on the application process, company culture, interviews do’s and don’ts, and the digital scene. We start Fireside Chat Tuesdays after Week 6 of the Metis Bootcamp.
